holidays are open to friends and relations of Mansfield and
District U3A members, subject to space, as many non-members who have
spent
super holidays with us in the past have gone on to join the
U3A.)

10 days by
coach to Bavaria (including one day & night in
Oberammergau to see the Passion Play)
We shall stay in the Liege area for one night after driving through the
Eurotunnel, then on to our second night in Heidelberg.
Our base will be in Kirchberg from where we enjoy 3 included excursions
over the following three days, then on to Oberammergau for the
performance of the Passion Play. After a night's stay there, we drive
for another one night stay in Freiburg in the Black Forest and then on
to Paris in time for a 'Paris by night' tour before bed. The next day,
we return to Calais for the Eurotunnel crossing to Folkestone.
42 people have signed up for this holiday, but because of our age and
from past experience there is always a possibility of a cancellation
due to illness and a pending operation. Consequently, I would like to
open a waiting list for any one who may be interested in this holiday
& who will have an opportunity to see the Passion Play, which
is performed only once every ten years.
The cost will range from £979 - £1279 depending on which seat in the
auditorium will become available. I may still be able to deduct at
least £60 if we can maintain the 42 people who have already paid two
instalments. (This is a very competitive price.)

short break since the number I needed was not forthcoming in the
limited time I was given. I am so very sorry about this – if the
interest is there perhaps we can try another year.

bed, breakfast, evening meal and all entertainment).
Prices are held at £190 sharing, £230 single.
I have closed the list at 100 people but if anyone would like
to go on the waiting list please contact me on 01623
626991. Based on
previous experience some people may have to drop out for various
reasons and if we can fill their places they will not lose all their
money. No obligation to take up an offered place if you go on
the waiting list.

Isle
of Man, Historic Little Railways Tour: 15th - 21st May 2011
We
shall be staying in the Hydro Hotel situated on the Queen's Promenade
in Douglas where all bedrooms can be accessed via a lift.
Our included excursions take us to explore the south of the island and
from there we join the steam railway back to Douglas.
After visiting the famous Laxey Wheel we join the Snaefell Mountain
Railway for 4 miles riding to the top of the mountain, then continue to
Ramsey.
Our third excursion is a half-day tour across the island to Peel with
its dramatic castle.
For
40 passengers minimum cost £379 (including driver's gratuity) £60
single supplement. Only 5 singles available! To secure your place
deposit £25 please.
Update: I urgently need 4 more
couples to fill either twins or doubles to reach the minimum number of
40 passengers required at this price. Since there is no meeting in
August, I would appreciate the deposit of £25 each before the end of
July so that I can meet the September deadline.

Loire
Valley in France: 10th-18th July 2011
After
travelling through the Euro tunnel we have an overnight stop in Rouen
and then travel to Tours where we stay for 6 nights in the Mercure
Centre Hotel. The free excursions will be to four chateaux:
Chenonceaux, Amboise, Chinon and Angers and wine tasting in Saumur and
La Maison du Vin du Tourism in Chinon.
We stop again in Rouen on our return and should arrive back the next
day in Mansfield at approx. 8pm.
For
minimum of 35 passengers cost £659 (including driver's gratuity). No
single supplement - only 1 single room left but a deposit of £25 will
secure your place. (If numbers go over 40 price may be cheaper!)
According
to two other travel companies this is very good value for money and was
told to 'snap it up.'
Update: I need 5 more
couples to join us on this coach holiday to keep this price! Only twins
or doubles are available. Deposits of £25 each needed no later than the
September meeting please.
