Gardening
Mansfield U3A Gardening group arranges a
varied programme designed to help members learn together in a friendly,
informal manner. The annual programme extends from March until November
and includes topical lectures by horticultural lecturers, occasional
local outings and members’ days where members can get to know each
other and share their own knowledge and experience. The subject matter
each month is wide and varied and includes topics to suit all gardening
tastes. There is a small charge for the meetings, however refreshments
are included.
We meet on the first Tuesday in the month, from March until November.
As June 5th 2012 is a bank holiday, our June meeting is to be held on
May 29th. Please make a diary note of this date as we have planned a
full and exciting day out by coach to two local nurseries
including a gardening demonstration, garden tour, morning coffee,
lunch and afternoon tea!
Our programme for 2012 offers variety and, we
hope, some fun. If you have any queries or wish to join the Gardening
Group but cannot attend monthly U3A meetings, just get in touch with me
on 452688.

FOR
OUR July 2011 meeting, Avril and Freda had arranged a trip to Philip
Jones's
garden at Ravenshead; they seemed to have arranged the weather too as
it was a perfect morning, so where better to spend time than in this
colourful, delightful garden? Thanks are due from everyone!
Philip
does not open his garden often so we were all the more grateful for his
generosity in allowing us to visit; and he provided refreshments too!
We were all reluctant to leave and join the busy world outside but we
couldn't pass the plant sale without giving that our attention too. I'm
sure Philip's chosen charity, Arthritis Research UK, will make good use
of the proceeds.
