Mansfield and District U3A: Committee and who to contact

The committee below was elected by the AGM of 20th September 2011 to serve members until 18th September 2012

They will all welcome any suggestions or comments about Mansfield and District U3A before each monthly meeting and during the interval - subject to holiday absence. Member and office held		Something about them ...
	Mike Allen Chairman	Mike taught for many years in Sutton in Ashfield and retired in 1998. He was Vice-Chairman in 2010/11, Speaker Finder for two years as well as leading the Theatre Visits Group and Wine Group 2. If time allows, he hopes to be a keen member of the new Local History Group, as well as continuing to play golf and support the local hockey clubs.
	Glenis Carr Vice Chairman & Groups Coordinator	Glenis joined the U3A in 2009 following a management career in training and human resources, both national and international. She is a keen bridge player and enjoys swimming, keep-fit, theatre visits, travel, walking and life in general.
	Jean Dalton Business Secretary	Jean joined in 2009 and became Minutes Secretary at the last AGM. She is interested in Theatre Visits and the Luncheon Club and sings with several choral groups outside the U3A. Her work life was in business administration and management.
	Carole Justice Minutes Secretary	Carole joined our U3A in April 2009 and the committee in that September. She is an active participant in the Art Appreciation, Lunch Club and Reading groups and helped in the formation of our new Local History group. Her career included various secretarial positions.
	Avril McGee Membership Secretary	Avril has been a member of our U3A for 6 years; she joined the committee in January 2009 and became Membership Secretary in September 2009. She is co-ordinator of the Gardening Group, a regular member of the Tai Chi Group and a member of the Pudding Club.
	Pauline Boucher Treasurer	Pauline has been a U3A member for 5 years and our Treasurer for 4. She is co-ordinator for the Art Appreciation Group and a keen member of Wine Group Three. Her career background includes over 40 years bookkeeping and secretarial work.
	John Troop Assistant Treasurer	John joined the family business selling fruit and veg on Mansfield Market before he and Karen bought a Post Office and Store. He joined Mansfield U3A in 2007 and the committee in 2008. He is a member of the Luncheon Club, Family History, Garden Visits and Gardening Groups.
	David Ling Website & Newsletter	David trained as a mechanical engineer and had a career in technical marketing and PR. He joined in 2007, is co-ordinator of our Luncheon Club & Digital World photography groups. He has been Website Editor since June 2009 and compiler of our newsletter since February 2010.
	Teresa Wells Speakers	Teresa has been a member since January 2009. She is active in the Reading 1, Singing for Fun and the Walkers groups. Her other interests include history and visiting stately homes. She worked as a Civil Servant before marriage and children and then as a clerk for British Car Auctions.
	Jean Hinds Social Events Contact	Jean joined the committee at the last AGM but has been a member since our Baptist Church days. She is a member of the Popular Music Appreciation, Tai Chi, Strollers and Gardening groups. Her working life was mainly in accounts, at Mansfield Shoe Co and Metal Box, with a spell in the licensed trade.
	George Powell	George served 35 years with Mansfield Brewery as Wages and Salaries Supervisor and joined Mansfield U3A 7 years ago. He enjoys participating in our Garden Visits, Gardening, Holidays, Wine Appreciation and Sci-Tech groups and also likes DIY and walking.
